“The covid-19 pandemic changed education forever”

This is how. We didn’t realize as a society how much we needed schools until they were shuttered. With almost no notice, adults and children found themselves in the middle of a massive national experiment in new ways of teaching and learning, and new ways of dividing responsibilities between home, school and work. The Pandemic impacted the teaching-learning process and changed students' lives. The transition of classrooms from traditional chalk and board to smart ones made the education system interactive. Though we had telephones and video apps pre-Covid, the pandemic forced a pronounced shift towards more communication. The crisis ushered in a pressing need to improve the digital literacy of children, teachers, and parents. To address these needs, Schools and education institutions moved to online teaching. Latin America faced a learning crisis even before the pandemic. In addition, the region already had the world’s widest inequity in student access to quality education. Governments and everyone involved in our region’s education need to act now to mitigate the damage.
