My name is Kiki, I´m from the United States. In my country we celebrate Valentine´s Day on February 14 th. We send flowers, greetings cards, chocolates and candies to important people in our lives. If you have a boyfriend or a girlfriend you make plans to go out dancing for dinner, or maybe to a movie. This is the story of my first Valentine´s Day.
I was 14 when I met Bob. He was older than me and he was really handsome. One day, my friends and I were practicing for a dancing contest and a friend introduced me to a Bob. He was a junior and he was 16. I thought he was a nice guy because he called me a couple of days later. One day, I was talking to my friends during the break when he came and asked me out! I was very happy and I told him that would be great. He had his own car and could obviously drive, so he came to pick me up. He came up to the door, and I invited him to come in, but he was a little nervous, so he didn´t. He brought me flowers and chocolates. Mom suddenly came and started talking to Bob. She gave him all kinds of recommendations, and it made me feel embarrassed. We finally left for the restaurant, but my mom kept calling. We were having a really nice dinner, but we weren’t having fun. I was embarrassed because of my mom´s attitude. Then, to make things worse, we were kissing good night in the car, and my mom came out yelling At Bob: “get off her, you molester, you are older and she´s a baby” and stuff like that. He never talked to me again but I had to see him for one more year until he graduated. That was awful! I am glad it never happened again. My mom and I talked about it and decided to improve our communication to avoid such terrible scenes.
