On the night of 14 April 1912 the cruise ship Titanic (1) ___________ in the middle of its first journey between England and New york. At that moment the ship (2) ___________ across the north Atlantic, south of Greenland.
As usual, a sailor (3) ___________ (watch) the sea in front of the ship; he (4) ___________ for icebergs. But it was dark and there was no moon, so he (5) ___________ see anything. Suddenly, at exactly 11.40, the ship (6) ___________ a huge iceberg. When many of the passengers (7) ___________ the water began to flood the rooms.
The sailors (8) ___________ everybody to leave the ship, but there (9) ___________ enough boats for all the people. The sailors (10) ___________ to rescue and organise the people into the boats while most people (11) ___________ and shouting in desperation. In the end more than 1,500 people (12) ___________ but the Titanic continues to be a legend to the day.
