A) Complete the reported speech

1. I want to leave him

Reported speech: She said that she wanted to leave him

2. I don't like her parents

Reported speech: He told me that he doesn't like her parents

3. I'm getting divorced

Reported speech: She told me that she was getting divorced

4. I've been to the police station

Reported speech: he told me that he had been to the police station

5. I haven't met his girlfriend

Reported speech: He told me that he hadn't met his girlfriend

6. I saw james with another woman

Reported speech: He said that he had seen James with another woman

7. I can't cook

Reported speech: She told me that she couldn't cook

8. I won't tell anyone

B) Write the sentences in direct speech:

Explicación:

Es muy difícil o por lo menos para mí poder explicar este tema, es un poco complicado. Trataré de explicarlo pero antes debes tener unas buenas bases en el ingles para poder entender pues combina muchos tiempos.

El direct speech o lenguaje directo es aquel que dice como una persona te dijo algo tal cual, y se usa entre comillas. Por ejemplo alguien te dice:

La ciudad es muy vieja, y tú le quieres decir a otra persona lo que te dijo, lo dirías así:

Ella me dijo "la ciudad es muy vieja"

Lo dices tal cual cómo te lo dijo.

The city is very old

She said "the city is very old"

Lo complicado viene con el reported speech pues es el que combina muchos tiempos:

Si hablas del presente cambia a pasado simple

Hablando del presente continuo, cambia a pasado continuo

Pasado simple cambia a pasado perfecto

Pasado continuo cambia a pasado perfecto continuo

El presente perfecto continuo cambia a pasado perfecto continuo

Pasado perfecto simple no cambia

Pasado perfecto continuo tampoco cambia

Se utiliza para decir lo que alguien te dijo pero en lenguaje indirecto (reported speech) por eso es más fácil el direct speech:

Ejemplo del primer punto:

• I love going to the cinema

She told she loved going to the cinema

De presente cambia a pasado simple como dice el primer punto
