La diferencia entre ambos es que
(a) few - se usa con sustantivos contables. (pocos, unos pocos)
(a) little - se usa con sustantivo incontables. (poco, un poco)
Ejemplos.
I bought a few books today.
I did few exercises this afternoon. (sentido negativo muy pocos)
She has a few friends at school.
She has few friends at school. (sentido más negativo muy pocos).
There were few boats on the harbor.
She brought a little bread.
She brought little bread. (sentido más negativo - escaso)
I earned a little money.
I am only a little sad.
There is a little butter on the dish.
There is little milk for the recipe. (poca leche, insuficiente para la receta).
