► FIRST CONDITIONAL SENTENCES
Las oraciones condicionales del primer tipo tienen un verbo en presente simple en la condición —es decir, después de if (= si)— y un verbo en futuro simple en la proposición principal (= main clause).
➜ First Conditional Sentences – Structure:
• If-clause ➙ Present simple
• Main clause ➙ Future simple = will + infinitive of the verb
➜ En las oraciones negativas puede usarse will not o la contracción negativa won't.
➜ A veces hay un verbo en modo imperativo (en vez de en futuro) en la oración principal:
• If-clause ➙ Present simple
• Main clause ➙ Imperative Mood
➜ Estas oraciones condicionales se usan para hablar de cosas que pueden o podrían suceder en el futuro (posibilidades en el presente o en el futuro).
➜ La condición (= if-clause) puede estar al principio o al final de la oración, como ocurre con todas las subordinadas adverbiales. Si está al principio, va separada del resto de la oración por una coma. Si la condición está al final, no hay necesidad de usar una coma. (Hay varios errores de puntuación en las oraciones de este ejercicio).
Ejemplos:
• If I am late, I will call you.
➙ Si llego tarde, te llamaré.
• You will feel better if you rest.
➙ Te sentirás mejor si descansas.
• If you are so tired, go home.
➙ Si estás tan cansado(a), ve a casa.
