Robin Hood is a rebel who defends the humble people against the abuses of a despotic nobility; It robs the rich and powerful to spread the robbery among the poor and defenseless. Put aside from the law by the oppressors, the hero and his followers protect themselves in the forest to wage war against those who impose in the name of the state an inhuman and unjust law. Like all of its kind, Robin Hood is competent by civilian and ecclesiastical bands, but more by the state, more by the people. Robin Hood's theme is that of freedom, in the English way: civil liberty. In addition to the ancient conflict between the individual and the state that it reveals, this legend refers to concrete socio-political situations.
