NELSON MANDELA
(18th of July 1918)
South African politician
He was the first president of South Africa to be elected by democratic means under universal suffrage. Before being elected president, he was a leading anti-apartheid activist who, despite being imprisoned for 27 years, was involved in the planning of armed resistance activities. However, the armed struggle was, for Mandela, a "last alternative"; Mandela always used nonviolent methods. During his time in prison, most of the time it is known as the fight against apartheid in South Africa. Despite the rule of apartheid and the allied nations that are considered together with the African National Congress as a terrorist, their struggle was part of the campaign against apartheid
