Fly Away Home is inspired by a true story and tells the story of a 13-year-old girl who after losing her mother in a traffic accident has to go from New Zealand to Canada to live with her father with whom she does not She feels especially comfortable and unwanted. The parents separated when she was little and she barely knows him. But the story changes when Amy, who calls herself the girl who stars Anna Paquin, discovers a bunch of abandoned goose eggs that she takes care of with mime and dedication as spring advances.
The film is of the year 1996 and for that reason I can count on some details. However, even though many parents saw her as a teenager or when they started to confront the professional world, most of her children have not seen her and I think they will like it. The other day we put her at home to see her with the little girl and we share with her many of the beautiful and exciting moments that she has. For example, the mime with which he takes care of the eggs, the dedication he has to the chicks and of course his passion to make them fly. And there is much more ...
Because the love of the father towards his daughter and vice versa grows as Amy advances in his relationship with the geese and realizes that he needs the help of his father. And this one understands that it is the moment in which it must support the adventure of its daughter and probably the one in which it must move away of its dreams (it is great the moment in which it sells its replica of the lunar module so that he can buy to his daughter a Ultra-light aircraft) and concentrate on reaching the target.
I think the film is inspired by the fact that it is possible to use airplanes as a guide for migratory birds as shown by Amy's uncle (one of the funniest secondary characters). Nevertheless the film goes much further. It is a commitment of the family and of their friends to carry out the project of the small Amy. And the geese are the big dumb characters (although they squawk a little) of this exciting movie.
I recommend it too because although the film has special effects and some tricks, for example you never know how many geese there are, it does have impressive scenes of birds without using excessive digital techniques but much film-parallel shooting. It is fantastic to see the geese flying with these elegant formations between the planes and to enjoy the adventures that happen, for example, a flight between skyscrapers or the confrontation against a military base.
And it is that the film advances without just words, only great images that show you what happens between the father and the daughter and how the characters that appear in the film enrich this to make it more entertaining until reaching its final moment. Will they achieve the goal that geese can migrate?
