The constitutional military uprising that sponsored the beginning of what is popularly known as the "April War of 1965" is the most important patriotic, political and military event in the history of the Dominican Republic in the 20th century. Its objective was to restore the constitutional government of Professor Juan Bosch, overthrown in September 1963, when the command of the nation was usurped by a government that received the name of Triumvirate, and which was also deposed, on April 24, 1965. Four days later, the United States infantry soldiers invaded the Dominican territory and the patriotic struggle of our people began.
