INSIDE OUT 200-Word Movie
In Inside Out, 11-year-old Riley is a normal girl who sees life through a simple emotional lens. That is until her father moves the family across the country. Until now, Riley has been controlled collaboratively by five base emotions: Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust. Now, her emotions are at odds with one another and must find a way to work together without destroying Riley’s relationship with her family.
Pixar has wisely put sequels aside in exchange for creating an original film again, and they have proven that they still have what it takes to tell a creative story in a beautiful medium. Not since Up has a Pixar film yanked at my own emotions so much. One moment, I was laughing at bad brain puns and a joke about how facts and opinions wind up, and the next I’m holding back my tears so my wife doesn’t see, much the same way Riley must do for her father. My one complaint about Inside Out is that not all the emotions get enough focus, but Joy and Sadness do make a great buddy movie duo.
Inside Out is definitely a must see; just be prepared to feel all the feels.
