Eva Mozes Kor died on July 4, 2019. She was a Holocaust survivor, advocate for forgiveness, and public speaker. Driven by a never-give-up attitude, Eva emerged from a trauma-filled childhood as a shining example of the power of the human spirit to overcome. She was a tireless community leader, human rights advocate and educator.
Eva Mozes was born in 1934 in the small town of Portz, Romania. During Eva's first four years of education, she and Miriam attended a one-room school. Eva's father Alexander and her mother Jaffa had four daughters: Edit, Aliz, and twins Eva and Miriam. Although the Mozes family enjoyed a comfortable yet rustic life as landowners and farmers, the family lived under the specter of the Nazi takeover of Germany and the everyday experience of prejudice against Jews.
