2. Para resolver este ejercicio debes recordar cómo se forman las oraciones condicionales del tipo II. Hay un breve resumen a continuación.
► SECOND CONDITIONAL SENTENCES
Las oraciones condicionales del tipo II llevan un verbo en pasado simple (= past simple) en la cláusula condicional (o sea, después de la conjunción 'si') y un verbo en condicional simple (= conditional simple) en la cláusula principal. La condición (= if-clause) puede estar al principio de la oración o al final.
➜ Second Conditional Sentences – Estructura:
• If-clause (= cláusula condicional) → Past simple
• Main clause (= cláusula principal) → Conditional simple = 'would' + infinitive of the verb
➜ Este tipo de oraciones condicionales describe una situación irreal en el presente o en el futuro. El segundo condicional se utiliza para hablar de cosas irreales (no verdaderas o no posibles) en el presente o en el futuro, es decir, cosas que no ocurren o no ocurrirán. Este tipo de oración condicional presenta una condición hipotética que solo puede cumplirse en teoría.
➜ En las oraciones condicionales del tipo II, la forma del verbo to be es were para todas las personas. Cuando se utiliza este verbo en este tipo de condiciones, se usa de forma hipotética, por lo que está en modo subjuntivo, NO en pasado simple. (La forma was se utiliza a veces, pero solo en el inglés hablado o coloquial).
➜ Los auxiliares modales could, should y might (los que expresan un resultado poco realista o improbable) pueden usarse en la cláusula principal en lugar de would.
Ejemplos:
• If she studied harder, she would pass the exam.
• If it rained, I wouldn't go to the park.
• If I were you, I would tell her the truth.
• She would become a teacher if she went to university.
• If you asked us, we would help you.
• It would be nice if the rain stopped!
• If you were nicer to him, he would lend you the money you need.
