Today is April 26th, 2021. We’ve been researching about these sharks for weeks, and one of the discoveries is that they cannot breath while standing still. They use ‘ram ventilation’, they need to move so that the water can enter their gills and therefore breath. It’s quite amazing.

It’s been hard to get blood samples since their skin is so thick, about six inches thick! Not the thickest skin but still amazing.

Talking about skin— it feels like sandpaper! It’s because it is made up of tiny teeth-like structures called placoid scales, also known as dermal denticles.
