Past simple

Last year I had a terrible experience when a shark attacked me. That day I didn't See the red danger flag at the beach, so I decided to go surfing. Suddenly I heard someone shouting, and the next minute I Saw the shark a few metres away from me. I jumped off My surfboard, the shark opened its mouth, And I hit It hard on the nose. The surfboard broke in half. I don't know why, but the shark didn't attack me again. It swam away very fast. How lucky!
