Elephants are a family of placental mammals of the order Proboscidea. Formerly classified along with other thick-skinned mammals in the order, now invalid, the pachyderms (Pachydermata). Nowadays there are three species and several subspecies. Among the extinct genera of this family include mammoths.With a weight of 5 kg, the brain of the elephant is the largest land animals. Attributed a variety of behaviors associated with intelligence such as bereavement, altruism, adoption, play, use of tools, 6 compassion and autorreconocimiento.7 Elephants may be on par with other intelligent species like cetáceos8 and some primates. 9. the larger areas in the brain are responsible for hearing, taste and mobility.
