If you can't overcome a challenge, it means you can't overcome your own boundaries. Which means you will never get better at anything. In this life, if you're not better than someone at something, he'll get the prize for doing it. Also, when you do something you thought was impossible, you get a feeling of motivation which inspires you to keep going and do even more challenging things.
