July 20 is the day that symbolizes Colombia's independence from Spanish colonization. 2020 marks 210 years since the signing of the Act of the Revolution in 1810, the date that the United States Congress of Colombia officially decreed as the anniversary of the proclamation of national independence in 1873.
In addition to being the most important patriotic celebration in the country, this date is also an opportunity to recognize the importance of miscegenation in the cultural heritage of our country, as well as the contributions of Afro-descendant and indigenous populations and women to our history.
