Kobe Bryant was born on August 23, 1978 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. He was an American professional basketball player. A shooting guard that spent his entire 20-year career with the Los Angeles Lakers in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is the only basketball player who ever win an Oscar for “Best Animated Short” in 2018.
Drafted by the Charlotte Hornets after graduation of high school in 1996, he was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers for the taller center Vlade Divac.
He led the Los Angeles Lakers to five NBA titles in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2009 and 2010. Bryant is the all-time leading scorer in Lakers franchise history. On 22 January 2006, Bryant scored 81 points against the Toronto Raptors, the second-highest single-game scoring output by a player in NBA history.
Kobe announced his retirement from the NBA in December 2015 and died in a helicopter crash on January 26, 2020
