Depejo y de (1) Y (2)

x + y = 12
y = 12 - x    (3)

- y + 2x = 9
2x - 9 =  y    (4)

Igualas  (3)  y (4)

12 - x = 2x - 9
12 + 9 = 2x + x
21 = 3x
21/3 = x
7 = x        Reemplazas este valor en (3)

y = 12 - x
y = 12 - 7
y = 5
