The Amazing World of Earthworms
When fully-grown earthworms move through the
soil, they let water and air into it. This is good for the
plants. They also eat some of the soil together with
plant matter. They later leave it as fertilizer.
Earthworms are hermaphrodites and start life as eggs
All earthworms can lay eggs because they have male
and female parts. They leave their eggs in the ground
in a cocoon.
When the weather is warm, the cocoon takes
two weeks to hatch. There are usually one or two
earthworms in each egg. Baby earthworms are about
12 millimeters long. But they can grow to four meters

incredible animals. They live anywhere in the world
where there is soil. They help make the soil healthy
