International Women's Day is a day commemorated around the world to raise awareness of the importance of empowering women in all settings, protecting their rights and ensuring that they can reach their full potential. The origins of this day date back to 1910, when a group of women from 17 countries met in Denmark for two reasons: to strengthen progress in gender equality and the defense of women's rights and to promote the universality of the female vote.
