La Declaración Universal de los Derechos Humanos (Universal Declaration of Human Rights) fue proclamada el 10 de diciembre de 1948 en Paris, por la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas. Fue redactado por la experiencia de la Segunda Guerra Mundial.

Desde entonces, su objetivo ha sido el de establecer y proteger los derechos y libertades de todas las personas en todo el mundo (it establishes and protects the rights and freedoms of people all over the world).

Fue el primer documento que establece esto a nivel mundial y que fue declarado como un ideal común. Es por esto que este documento primordial ha sido traducido a más de 500 idiomas. También es considerada fundamental para las normas internacionales sobre derechos humanos.
