In English, as in Spanish, we can influence our interlocutor by inducing him to perform or not perform a specific action. The most direct way to do this is by means of the imperative, as the name of this verb mode indicates. As in Spanish, the imperative mood in English is generally used to convey an order, induce someone to do something, to give a warning or to give instructions.
In English we can distinguish several forms of imperative: affirmative, negative and exhortative, as well as other more cordial ways of expressing an order. Let's see together the characteristics of each one of them.
