"A DAY AFTER TOMORROW"
Hall's research indicates that global warming could cause an abrupt and catastrophic change in the planet's climate. The glacial extracts that he has drilled in Antarctica reveal that such a phenomenon occurred ten thousand years ago. And now, he is alerting the authorities that it could happen if they do not act to return quickly. But his warning comes too late. It all begins when Hall watches a chunk the size of Rhode Island break off the Antarctic Ice Sheet. Then a series of severe weather events begin to happen around the Earth: hail the size of a grapefruit shakes Tokyo, hurricanes with record-breaking winds hit Hawaii, snowfall falls in New Delhi, and then a series of tornadoes devastates The Angels. Global warming has pushed the planet beyond its extremes and placed it on the eve of a new Ice Age. And it will all happen during a global mega storm. As Jack warns the White House of impending climate change, his 17-year-old son, Sam (Jake Gyllenhaal), and three other friends, including his love interest Laura (Emmy Rossum), find themselves trapped in New York City. A few days later, the water from the tsunami that hit New York freezes and everything is covered by a large layer of ice. The inhabitants emigrate to Mexico. This accepts the entrance on condition that the foreign debt they have with the American country is forgiven, Jack goes to New York City to save Sam. But even Jack is not prepared for what is about to happen to him, his son and his planet. It is a science fiction film that is based on what could happen and the consequences of this terrible fact that the film represents. In the end, the father saves Sam and Laura and all his friends, and the United States government becomes aware of this phenomenon and the serious consequences it has on humanity.
