That war is extremely destructive, HOWEVER, there's 1 thing that has an extremely good thing overall, and that is SCIENCE, science progress the most when there's war... you wonder why? it is because when there's a war, rivals don't have any type of ruth for the enemy, so they don't have any morals towards others human beings, and that's when experiments come, lots of experiments and tests and all of that, leads to scientific advances.

Im going to give you an example, is not from WW1 but WW2, in the war, NAZI Wernher von braun developed the "V-2 missile" to reach london and kill innocent people... later the same guy with all the knowledge he got from that, started to work with the USA on the space race, creating de SATURN V Rocket, which is the most powerful machine ever built, the one that sent humans to the moon, and all of that, because of a missile.
