Walking is a simple and healthy activity, but if we do it on a mountain, we need to have a special technique to withstand the walks as well as possible. Walking in a correct way implies taking into account our forces, rhythm, the weight to be transported, the distance and the conditions of the area that we are going to travel.

Do not exhaust your strength, walk relaxed

It is essential not to exhaust your strength and walk relaxed, since little by little more resistance and power are gained. Do not forget to warm up before starting. You can stop to rest for five minutes for every hour on the way, but it is not advisable to prolong that time as the muscles can cool down.

How to descend

When descending, we must be very careful as the weight falls on the knees and ankles. On steep slopes and descents, we must nail our heels with each step to maintain balance and taking short, flexed and zigzag steps. In slopes with a lot of inclination, we must support the tip of the feet and taking advantage of the ledges of stones or steps, but with great care since we can slip.

The climbs

The climbs can be endless and exhausting, but we must take them calmly, with short steps and also walking in a zig zag. This method takes longer but is less tiring and safer. We have to avoid areas with dense bushes, as they tend to be more tiring and we can get out of there with scratches.
