A certain oil with a density of 780 kg/m3 is flowing inside a pipe at a flow rate of 8l t/s and passes through a section of 8.0 cm in diameter, a) what is the speed at which the oil flows? b) If the oil passes through a second section of the pipe with a speed of 6.8 m/s. What is the radius?

Explicación:

d = 780 kg/m^3

Q = 8 l/s

D = 8 cm

PART 1

Q = V x A

V = Q/A

V = 8 l/s (1 m^3 / 1000 l) / ((pi/4) (8 cm x 1 m /100 cm)^2)

V = (8/1000)  / ((pi/4) (8/100)^2)   m/s

V = 1.591 m/s

PART 2

Q = V x A

A = Q/V

A = 8 l/s (1 m^3 / 1000 l) / (6.8 m/s)

A = (8/1000) / 6.8  m^2

A = 0.01 m^2

A = pi x r^2

r = [ A/pi ]^ (1/2)

r = [ 0.01 m^2 / 3.14) ] ^ (1/2)

r = 0.056 m

r = 5.64 cm
