COCO nos cuenta la historia de Miguel, un niño que desea cumplir su sueño de convertirse en un gran músico como lo llegó a ser Ernesto de la Cruz, el artista más famoso de México. No obstante su familia le prohíbe la música y es por ello que tiene que vivir su pasión de manera casi clandestina. A pesar de su gran talento musical, Miguel no puede convencer a su familia de dejarlo seguir su pasión, por lo que en un momento se ve en la disyuntiva de seguir su sueño o continuar con la tradición de ser zapatero. Durante todo el año, la Tierra de los Vivos y la Tierra de los Muertos coexisten por separado pero, durante el Día de los Muertos, ambas tierras se unen. Es en este día que Miguel, a través de la guitarra de su héroe, desata la magia de la festividad y es transportado a la Tierra de los Muertos, donde se encuentra con sus antepasados que lo ayudarán a regresar a su mundo.
La película nos mantiene al filo de las emociones, podemos pasar de un momento cómico hasta uno muy sentimental. Pixar nos había entregado recientemente continuaciones de sus primeras películas, por lo que con COCO regresan a contar una historia original, tomando elementos de la tradición del Día de Muertos.

COCO tells us the story of Miguel, a boy who wishes to fulfill his dream of becoming a great musician like Ernesto de la Cruz, Mexico's most famous artist. However, his family forbids him music and that is why he has to live his passion almost clandestinely. Despite his great musical talent, Miguel cannot convince his family to let him follow his passion, so at one point he finds himself in the dilemma of following his dream or continuing with the tradition of being a shoemaker. Throughout the year, the Land of the Living and the Land of the Dead coexist separately but, during the Day of the Dead, both lands are united. It is on this day that Miguel, through the guitar of his hero, unleashes the magic of the holiday and is transported to the Land of the Dead, where he meets his ancestors who will help him return to their world.
The film keeps us on the edge of emotions, we can go from a comic moment to a very sentimental one. Pixar had recently given us continuations of their first films, so with COCO they return to tell an original story, taking elements of the tradition of the Day of the Dead.
