The 24th of December is Christmas Eve, and the 25th of December is Christmas Day.
Americans usually celebrate on the morning of the 25th.
Normally, the family puts a Christmas tree in the house, and under the tree they put gifts. Parents tell their children that Santa Claus comes down the chimney to bring more gifts during the night.
On the morning of December 25th, everyone wakes up and opens presents.
A lot of people don’t have a fireplace, of course. And I’m not sure how Santa Claus comes in if you don’t have a chimney. Probably through the window.
Christmas lunch isn’t quite as important as Thanksgiving. Many people eat a large roast, like a ham, duck, turkey or roast beef. And of course there are usually sweets, like Christmas cookies, which are decorated to look like trees or reindeer or whatever.
