Back in the early 1500s, Spain conquered Mexico. This was not a good thing for the
native people, because they were forced
to work for the Spanish conquerors for
nearly 300 years on the night of
September 15 1810. a priest named
Father Miguel Hidalgo y Costitta started a
revolution against the Spanish rulers. First
he rang the bell of his church in Dolores
Hidalgo. A crowd gathered and he told
them to fight for theedom. The next day,
the
rebels declared independence from Spain Mexico finally defeated Spain in 1821.
