Tema: verb to be - past simple
El verb to be en el pasado simple se forma de manera diferente a la de los demás verbos, debido a que no requiere de un auxiliar.
Tiene dos variaciones, was y were.
Usamos were con la tercera y primera persona del plural, y con la segunda persona del singular y del plural. Usamos was con la primera y la tercera persona del singular.
¿Qué quiere decir esto?
Que vamos a usar uno o el otro dependiendo del sujeto de la oración:
I / he / she / it → was
You / we / they → were
¿Cómo formamos una oración con el verb to be?
Affirmative:
Sujeto + was / were + complemento
I was very tired yesterday.
Negative:
Sujeto + wasn't / weren't + complemento
We weren't at home last night.
Interrogative:
Was / were + sujeto + complemento...?
Were you mad at me? Answers: Yes, I was / No, I wasn't.
