Seals are marine mammals that have adapted to live in the aquatic environment for long periods of time although they can also inhabit the land. There are nineteen different species of seals. These animals have no auditory ward and have non-functional hind limbs to move around the ground and facing backwards, but they do have water-friendly. These limbs are the ones that set them apart from other animals such as sea bears or sea lions.

Polar bears have the ability to walk and swim long distances through ice and its icy waters. They are very strong and skilful swimmers due to the slightly palmed and large front legs they use for paddling. In fact, some polar bears have been seen swimming hundreds of miles of land, though they probably cover most of that distance over the small layers of ice floating in the sea.
