Online reading is the process of extracting meaning from a text that is in a digital format. Also called digital reading.
Most researchers agree that the experience of reading online (whether on a PC or a mobile device) is fundamentally different from the experience of reading print materials, however, the nature and quality of these different experiences (as well as the particular skills required for proficiency) are still being debated and explored.
Advantages and disadvantages of online reading
• There is no need to carry a book around. You only need the device you want to read the book on.
• Most programs allow you to take notes, highlight, and define words inside the application you are using.
• If you like being able to turn pages, many applications have a similar visual effect that looks like you are turning a page, but it is still not "the real deal."
• Your device's battery may run out.
