DANGER ON TOP OF THE WORLD
Par 1
Furest is a riveting adventure film, more gripping than any other I have seen. Set in May 1996 on the
world's highest mountain, it blends facts with some fiction to recount events that claimed eight lines
The plot revolves around two guides and their groups of climbers as they face crowded climbing
conditions and Everest's infamous weather. As they near the top, there is a delay, making it too late ?
Par 2 safely make the final ascent to the peak and start down again. Some continue anyway - and then, 23
they start their descent, an extremely severe blizzard sets in. The tension builds as the climbers strog
to survive
Regarding how well the film reflects the actual course of events, it is largely accurate. It is based on
information from many sources, including books written by survivors. One survivor, Beck Weathers
author of Left for Dead: My Journey Home from Everest, even advised the actor portraying him. However,
clearly, some personal conversations and other incidents have been changed for dramatic effect.
Pars 3-4
With dimbers' faces often hidden by hoods and sunglasses, it can be difficult to know who we are
seeing and hearing, and not every character is fully fleshed out. That being said,
some relationships are depicted in a deeply moving way, especially when climbers
contact their worried families. As for conveying Everest's beauty and dangers and the
characters' terrifying life-and-death situations, the film is a spectacular success. The
extraordinary cinematography and special effects put viewers in the middle of the action.
Everest brings to life a spine-tingling true story of great courage and man's weakness against
nature. Not only will it appeal to anyone interested in mountain climbing, but also to fans of
fast-paced adventure films.
