How do cells contribute to the structure of living organisms?

All living things are made up of cells. Some organisms, such as bacteria, can exist simply as singlecelled entities. Others, including humans, contain countless numbers of cells that work together to form the integrated body of the individual. Humans have trillions of cells that organize themselves to make up complex structures such as tissues, such as muscles and skin, or organs, such as the liver and lung.
