Las formas superlativas en las oraciones indican que algo tiene más cantidad (o menos) de algo en comparación con el resto de cosas que se indican en la oración. Si no me he explicado bien, te mostraré varios ejemplos sacados del texto:
- Everest is the highest mountain (La más alta en comparación con el resto)
- And the most expensive (La más cara en comparación con el resto)
Hay distintas formas de estructurar una oración superlativa, estas dependen del adjetivo que se vaya a emplear en la oración:
- Si tiene una sílaba, se escribe el adjetivo más -est (High - Highest).
- Si el adjetivo con la característica anterior termina en consonante-vocal-consonante, se duplica la última letra antes de añadir -est (Big - Biggest).
- Si el adjetivo acaba en -Y, se le añadirá -iest (Windy - Windiest)
- Si hay más de dos sílabas, se añade most (Expensive - Most expensive).
Hay otras excepciones, como los adjetivos irregulares, que tienen una forma propia y única (Less - The least).
