Usamos adjetivos comparativos
Para mostrar cambios o hacer comparaciones. Por ejemplo:
- We need a bigger car / necesitamos un carro más grande.
Para comparar una cosa con otra y agregamos la palabra "than". Por ejemplo:
- The elephant is bigger than the mouse. / El elefante es más grande que el ratón.
Para expresar un cambio en el mismo objeto o persona y agregando "and". Por ejemplo:
- The ball got bigger and bigger.
¿Cómo formar adjetivos comparativos?
Usualmente agregamos –er a adjetivos de una sílaba para hacer comparativos.
- older
Si un adjetivo termina en –e , le agregamos –r.
- larger
Si un adjetivo termina en vocal y consonante , doblamos la consonante.
- bigger
Si un adjetivo termina en consonante y –y , cambiamos –y por –i y añadimos –er.
- happier
Usamos more para hacer comparativos para la mayoría de los adjetivos de dos sílabas y para todos los adjetivos de tres o más sílabas.
