They organized  protests and there  was violent incidents. The government is angry with the suffragettes and the police arrested them many times.

In 1914 the First World War started. Emmeline had got an idea. “Men was at war. We, women, can help our country and work in factories and public services”, she said.

In 1918 the war finished. The government is thankful for their work and gave  women the right to vote.
