Flying is Fun
Marco had never flown on an airplane before. He was very nervous as
he rolled his suitcase toward the departing gate. A very nice lady checked his
ticket and told him it was time to board. When he and his father found their
seats, they put on their seatbelts and waited for the plane to take off. Marco
clutched the armrests of his seat so tightly his knuckles turned white.
"How long will we be in the air?" asked Marco.
"About three hours," answered his father. "But don't worry, I brought
books and games. The time will pass quickly."
Marco started to relax a little when his father read him a funny story.
Then they played card games and read some more. Before Marco knew it, the
flight was over, and the plane was landing. As they walked off the plane and
out into the airport terminal, Marco saw another boy about his age getting
ready to board a different plane. Marco thought the boy looked a little worried,
and he remembered how that felt.
"Don't be scared," he said with a big, friendly smile. "Flying is fun."
