Las oraciones negativas e interrogativas en pasado simple se forman usando el verbo auxiliar did.

Verbo Auxiliar 'Did'.

El verbo auxiliar did, es el pasado simple del verbo do / does, y se usa en oraciones interrogativas o negativas en pasado simple.

Su estructura es la siguiente:

  • Sujeto + did + not + verbo en forma simple + complemento.
  • Did + sujeto + verbo en forma simple + complemento + ?

I. Fill the gaps with the negative of the verbs in brackets.

1. David didn't watch the film in the cinema.

2. Carol didn't appear for the party.

3. My parents didn't book a table in the restaurant.

II. Rewrite the sentences in the interrogative and negative forms.

2. The car stopped at the traffic light.

  • Neg: The car didn't stop at the traffic light.
  • Int: Did the car stop at the traffic light?

3. The boys played chess.

  • Neg: The boys didn't play chess.
  • Int: Did the boys play chess?

4. I talked to Andrew.

  • Neg: I didn't talk to Andrew
  • Int: Did you talk to Andrew?

5. Michael worked till late.

  • Neg: Michael didn't work till late.
  • Int: Did Michael work till late?

6. The baby cried all night.

  • Neg: The baby didn't cry all night
  • Int: Did the baby cry all night?

III. Use the interrogative form of the past simple.
