Topic: Energy

Value to calculate: Gravitational potential energy

For calculate GPE, let's applicate the formula:

                                           \boxed{\boxed{\bold{GPE = m*g*h}}}

Where:

GPE = Gravitational potential energy = ¿? J

m = Mass = 2 kg

g = Gravity = 9,82 m/s²

h = Height = (2 m) (1,5 m)

In this case, lets calculate the two gpe's, for see the change of gpe:

GPE in 2 m shelf:

GPE = 2 kg * 9,82 m/s² * 2 m

GPE = 39,28 J

GPE in 1,5 m shelf:

GPE = 2 kg * 9,82 m/s² * 1,5 m

GPE = 29.46 J

Now, let's calculate the variation of GPE:

ΔGPE = GPE - GPE'

ΔGPE = 39,28 J - 29,46 J

ΔGPE = 9,82 J

The change in GPE is of 9,82 Joules (J)
