People with schizophrenia often suffer terrifying symptoms such as hearing voices, convinced that other people can read their minds, controlling their thoughts or are plotting against them. These symptoms cause fear and withdrawal. Speech and behavior are affected and may become even incomprehensible. Today there are treatments that alleviate some of the symptoms but, even with treatment, many patients continue to suffer throughout his life.
