En inglés existen dos tipos de verbos: regulares e irregulares. Los verbos regulares se conjugan siguiendo reglas generales. Los verbos irregulares toman formas diferentes en su conjugación.
Algunas características de la conjugación regular:
Presente simple: Se agrega una s al final del verbo para la tercera persona del singular (he, she, it).
Pasado simple: Se agrega la terminación ed.
El gerundio se forma agregando la terminación ing (eliminando la vocal final, si la hubiera).
Cuando el verbo termina en Y, la misma es reemplazada por i al agregarse la terminación ed.
Cuando el verbo termina en una consonante precedida por una vocal, se repite la consonante antes de agregar la terminación.
Si el verbo termina en e, la misma se elimina antes de agregar la terminación. Sin embargo, si termina en ie, esa terminación se reemplaza por y.
Como los verbos irregulares toman formas particulares, los mismos deben memorizarse, ya que no existen reglas para ellos.
Las oraciones regulares son aquellas que contienen verbos regulares.
