The snail is an invertebrate. It's a mollusc. It has got a soft body and a spiral shell.
It also has two tentacles and one "foot". A snail's "foot" is a muscle which allows it
to move slowly across the ground.
They hibernate in the winter. They move at an incredible slow speed. They can be
split into three groups, land snails, sea snails and freshwater snails. Snails can have
lungs or gills depending on the species and their habitat. Close relatives of the snails
are the slugs, which are basically snails without shells. Most land snails and slugs
are herbivorous. They eat vegetables and fruits, such as lettuce, carrots, cucumber
and apples. Aquatic snails are often carnivorous.
Land snails live in caves and dark places. Some snails are aquatic and live in water.
They live in the sea, fish tanks, rivers and oceans. They do not swim in the water
because most of the time they stick to rocks.
They are oviparous. Each snail lay eggs. The eggs hatch and a baby snail is born after
2-4 weeks.
