An investigation carried out by anthropologists from the Autonomous University of Barcelona on the Amazig or Berbers of the High Atlas of Morocco has revealed that religious beliefs favor sustainable land management. On the contrary, scientists point out, the disappearance of these traditions has given rise to a more individualistic management, based on immediate profit. According to the researchers, these results suggest that religious beliefs should be added to the list of factors that condition the exploitation of natural resources and, therefore, should be taken into account.
