Once upon a time there was a King and Queen desperate because they had no children. And the Queen said:
-Why can't I give children like the apple tree gives apples?
Then it happened that the Queen instead of having a son had an apple. It was such a beautiful and brightly colored apple as had never been seen before. And the King put it on his terrace, on a golden tray.
In front of this King lived another, and this other King, one day leaning out of the window, saw on the terrace of the neighboring King a beautiful girl, white and red as an apple, washing and combing her hair in the sun. He gaped at her, because he had never seen such a beautiful girl. But the girl, as soon as she realized that they were looking at her, ran to the tray, entered the block and disappeared. The King had fallen in love with her.

Había una vez un Rey y una Reina desesperados porque no tenían hijos. Y la Reina decía:
-¿Por qué no puedo dar hijos así como el manzano da manzanas?
Entonces sucedió que la Reina en vez de tener un hijo tuvo una manzana. Era una manzana tan bella y de color tan vivo como no se la había visto jamás. Y el Rey la puso en su terraza, en una bandeja de oro.
Frente a este Rey vivía otro, y este otro Rey, un día que estaba asomado a la ventana, vio en la terraza del Rey vecino una hermosa muchacha blanca y roja como una manzana, que se lavaba y peinaba al sol. Él se quedó mirándola boquiabierto, porque nunca había visto una muchacha tan bella. Pero la muchacha, en cuanto se dio cuenta de que la miraban, corrió hacia la bandeja, entró a la manzana y desapareció. El Rey se había enamorado de ella.
