Long ago some people believe that the Earth was flat. But
others thought that the Earth might be round Christopher
Columbus was one of them.
He wanted to find a shorter route to India. He thought he
could find it by sailing west.
He talked the King and Queen of Spain into paying for his
trip. They hoped that Columbus would bring back spices and
other riches from India.
Columbus and his crew set sail in 1492. After About two
months, they found land . Columbus thought they were in
Asia . But they really on an island in the Bahamas . When
Columbus returned to Spain, the King and Queen were
happy with him
