Julieta celebra la fiesta de sus 16 años de edad y en ella conoce a Romeo. Se enamoran a primera vista. En ese momento no saben que sus familias son totalmente opuestas.
Se casan en secreto al día siguiente de conocerse en un alarde de completo romanticismo y pasión. Les une un sacerdote en una ceremonia religiosa.

Romeo and Juliet is a love story between two 16-year-olds. They are from enemy families in the city of Verona.
They belong to the families of the Capulets and the Montagues, which are the most powerful in the city but are at odds with each other. Julieta celebrates the party of her 16 years of age and in it she meets Romeo. They fall in love at first sight. At that moment they do not know that their families are totally opposite.
They marry in secret the day after meeting in a display of complete romance and passion. They are joined by a priest in a religious ceremony.
After the secret wedding they maintain their separate life. Mercutio, Romeo's friend, meets Tybalt, Juliet's cousin who is furious at Romeo's presence at the masked party held at the Capulets' house the night before.
Romeo refuses to fight Tybalt. Mercutio is outraged by this submission and draws his sword. Romeo tries to separate the contenders and at that moment Tybalt kills Mercutio. Romeo fights, kills Tybalt and flees.
The Prince of Verona condemns Romeo to exile. The news causes the despair of Romeo and Juliet. Romeo leaves for Mantua.
Juliet's father is unaware that Juliet has married Romeo and arranges for his daughter's wedding to Paris, a marriage that had already been discussed before Juliet met Romeo. The wedding is set for two days later.
The priest looks for a trick to reunite the spouses. He advises Juliet to pretend to her parents that she accepts the marriage and gives her a narcotic that will make her stay dead for two days. Desperate, he buys a poison and goes to Verona with the intention of taking the poison next to Juliet's grave. When he reaches the grave he meets Paris, fights and kills him. Romeo kisses Juliet, takes the poison and falls dead. Juliet seeing Romeo dead also takes poison and dies.
It is a pity that there is no great opera on "Romeo and Juliet". Gounod's, which is the one most represented, is mediocre. The best creation on "Romeo and Juliet" is the wonderful ballet by Prokofiev

Desesperado compra un veneno y se dirige a Verona con la intención de tomar el veneno junto a la tumba de Julieta. Cuando llega a la tumba se encuentra con Paris, lucha y lo mata. Romeo besa a Julieta, se toma el veneno y cae muerto. Julieta al ver a Romeo muerto toma también veneno y muere.
Es una lastima que no se haya ninguna ópera genial sobre "Romeo y Julieta". La de Gounod que es la que más se representa es mediocre. La mejor creación sobre "Romeo y Julieta" es el maravilloso ballet de Prokofiev
