Se completan las siguientes oraciones con el estilo indirecto o reported speech con su tiempo verbal correcto:

33. My teacher asked me: "How often do you look at news websites?" My teacher asked me that how often did I look at news websites.

34. "Have you heard the news about John?" asked my cousin. My cousin asked me if I had heard the news about John.

35. "Do you know a good website for business news?" she asked him. She asked him if he knew a good website for business news.

36. "You have given me some very useful information", he said to her. He said that she had given him some very useful information.

37. I always forget the name of that journalist! I keep forgetting the name of that journalist!

¿Qué es el reported speech?

Es una forma de decir o escribir lo que alguien ha dicho sin emplear las palabras exactas pronunciadas por esa persona, por esta razón, no utiliza comillas como el estilo directo o direct speech.

Los verbos, los pronombres y adverbios cambian en el reported speech. En cuanto a los tiempos verbales de las oraciones se deben cambiar de la siguiente manera:

  • Present Simple cambia a Past Simple.
  • Present Continuous cambia a Past Continuous.
  • Present Perfect Simple cambia a Past Perfect Simple.
  • Present Perfect Continuous cambia a Past Perfect Continuous.
  • Past Simple cambia a Past Perfect Simple.
  • Past Continuous cambia a Past Perfect Continuous.
  • Will cambia a Would.
  • Can cambia a Could.
  • Must cambia a Had to.
